It is often the way isn’t it, that some of the most beautiful and idyllic places awaiting to be discovered are on our doorstep, and we are blissfully unaware?

For those of you that have not yet had the pleasure of visiting, Sculpture by the Lakes is a stunning picturesque park and beauty spot, spanning over 26 acres situated in the Dorset countryside. An idyllic oasis for art lovers and collectors, as well as a perfect scenic breakout in the great outdoors. Simon Gudgeon and his wife, Monique are the owners of Sculpture by the Lakes, and Simon exhibits over 30 pieces of his exquisite work throughout the park. I was fortunate enough to be gifted the opportunity to visit this magical place, as part of the Bournemouth Bloggers.

The tranquil gardens are simply stunning, and the whole ambiance creates a calm and relaxing place. There are an abundance of small retreats hidden away within the grounds, making it ideal to enjoy a picnic whilst unwinding. If you prefer, there is also a café on site selling homegrown produce as well as serving teas, coffees and cold refreshments. The menu is currently available as a take-out service.  Following lunch, I particularly enjoyed relaxing in one of the many tree swings whilst listening to the wind charms humming in the breeze.

For those understandably still anxious (due to Covid-19), a visit to Sculpture by the Lakes provides a solution to the perfect socially-distance escape. Tickets can be booked in advance here and booking ahead, provides everyone with optimum insurance that the park never becomes over-crowded enabling  visitors to wander freely around the grounds without bumping into a soul!

Sculpture by the Lakes is currently open from a Wednesday to Sunday between 10.00 am and 5.00 pm. The park also boasts an impressive art gallery which runs various workshops throughout the year, and as well as day visits you can hire out the venue and function rooms adjacent to the river, creating the most glorious setting for the perfect wedding. Further details  of this fabulous place are available to view on the website

Whilst this was a gifted opportunity, I was under no obligation to write a follow-up blog post, however this place is so incredible that I just had to share.  I do hope my friends and family who have all booked tickets enjoy their visit as much as I did.  Simple stunning and I will definitely be returning!

As ever, thank you for stopping by.
