With a blog title ‘Lifelipstickandleigh’ I cannot believe it’s taken me forever to actually post a review about one of my favourite lip products. I just think I was savouring the day to be honest or more likely delaying the post with the lame excuse that I had to purchase and test out even more lipsticks.

It’s a well-known fact that I love lipstick (especially pink) and even one of my Insta followers has now converted from red to pink, does that make me an official social influencer?? Anyway, I even managed to keep my pink lippy on during a military exercise complete with cam cream (a girl has to keep up appearances right)? It didn’t go down too well with the Royal Marines, however it stopped my lips from getting sore and chapped!

Everybody always asks me how my lipstick manages to remain on during an evening out or meal. I think the secret is to apply a little concealer first, always line the lips and then apply the lippy. It’s all about the preparation. I do always like to do a bit of research though and know the type of lipstick which will hold the colour longer.

Surprisingly, my favourite lipsticks currently adorning my lips are the Velvet Matte Cream Lip Stain from Victoria’s Secret. I know normally we only associate this store with glamourous super-models flaunting their gorgeous knickers, but boy are these lipsticks good.

I have been on the look-out for a really great quality matte lipstick for ages, something that lasts the day or evening and doesn’t suck out the moisture from your lips leaving that crusty finish.

So, I was pleasantly surprised to discover this superb matte lip stain (available in 7 glorious colours).

The brush makes it extremely easy to apply and you only need to add one coat because of the creamy formulae made from olive oil and vitamin E.

After the first application I originally thought I’d bought a gloss lipstick by mistake as the application is so creamy, however after only a few seconds it dries into a perfect matte finish, which is hyper-pigmented.

Even after dinner and sipping several Prosecco’s, the lip stain remained perfectly within my lip liner, it hadn’t run or formed that awful bread-crumby type effect. My lips actually felt hydrated and not dry in the slightest (my lips tend to be on the dry side too).

I dare say it but even waking up the next morning, I still had a little stain of colour on my lips. Now that’s staying power. Since then I have bought more and more of these little gems, in just about every colour. My favourite for an evening is the Scandalous: Bright Plum for a subtle, day-time trend, I wear the Magnetic: Rose Pink. For a pop of red try the Obsessed (pictured above).

They are a little pricey currently retailing at £12.16 per lip stain, however they often do offers and I now buy 3 of the stains for £21.72 (around £7.25 each).  Having said that, when you compare these to other higher end brand lipsticks, I’d say this is rather reasonable, especially because of the unique quality. Definitely giving these guys a highly recommended, and that’s coming from a lipstick connoisseur.

As ever, thank you for stopping by

I loved this post. It make me want to step out of my comfort zone with lipsticks and try new things. Though I tend to stay away from VS lip products, Desire is calling my name. The fact that it’s long wearing makes me want to try them even more.
