To be perfectly honest I wasn’t really looking for a coat on that particular shopping trip, I was actually browsing the sales in Wallis for winter knits and then my eye caught the isle of coats. I do have a couple of black coats and jackets, however they are relatively thin and this one was padded and it had a hood – a gorgeous fluffy, faux fur hood!
It was also marked down in price by 20% (after working out the maths), that brought the coat down in price to £68 which in my opinion was a bit of a steal considering the quality too. I managed to find the last size 12 (ah it was definitely meant to be) and tried on the coat.
Now I am 180 cm (from top to toe) or 5 foot 11″, which is pretty tall so I always struggle with trouser and sleeve lengths, although there’s a much larger variety of ‘Tall’ clothes available these days. The thing is the coat also had a belt (attached at the back) and this is normally another avoidance of mine been a taller lady, the reason – the belt is often too high and pulls me in under the bust rather than the waist!
Anyway, the coat fit perfectly – I always find with Wallis that I am a clothes size smaller. I am generally a UK size 12 to 14 (on a good day) but with Wallis I always opt for a size 12. The sleeves were a great length and the belt fastened around my waist, the detachable fur hood felt so snuggly and added a bit of glam which in my opinion is always a bonus. A perfect purchase!
Keen to test out how snug my new coat would be, what better way than to venture out into the New Forest for a lovely Sunday afternoon dog walk! I must admit it was a bitter cold afternoon but I managed to persuade my husband and daughter to come along (to take photographs for my first blog ‘modelling shoot’).
What a giggle ….. off we trudged through swampy ground to find the perfect location. Finally, only after sifting through 200 shots, did I manage to find a handful of photographs without my hair stuck to my lips, eyes closed or posing in some ridiculous way. The raw truth behind a blog post! On a positive, we all managed to walk up a huge appetite so enjoyed a lovely home-cooked Sunday roast on our return home.
My new coat kept me really toasty during one of the coldest days this winter, it was also very comfortable and I did feel rather stylish.
